Akka places great importance on protecting your privacy and safeguarding your personal data.

The purpose of this document is to provide you with detailed information about the protection and use of your personal data by Blast Angels Europe, SAS, a French company with its registered office at 3 Rue des Renaudes 75017 – Paris (France), registered in the French Companies Register under number 953 656 717 and tax identification number N0280321A (hereinafter, “Akka”), as the data controller, to maintain and ensure secure business relationships, protect personal data, and guarantee the right to privacy of each user of our services.

When you register on our website, we store and process the information you provide to offer you the best possible service.

1. Information We Collect

“Personal Data” refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, name, surname, postal and email address, as well as telephone number.
Through our website and platform, we may collect and process the following data:

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

This information includes, in particular, the following data:

  • Your email address;
  • Information necessary to register on our platform and access our services, including full name, date of birth, nationality, marital status, address, email, and password. This information is essential for registration. Without it, Akka will not be able to offer you its services, and you will not be able to create an account with us;
  • Your reviews and opinions about our services and startups through our website or any other channel available for that purpose, as well as your investment intentions;
  • Details of your browsing on our site and content viewed;
  • Your financial data, such as credit card or bank account numbers, and details of financial or accounting transactions made on our platform or through other means, including details related to your membership and financial investments;
  • Additional information you wish to provide and/or copies of certain documents necessary to verify your identity and allow us to provide services appropriately.

Akka informs all users that providing certain personal data is not mandatory, except for fields indicated as mandatory. However, failure to provide such data may prevent Akka from providing all services related to these data, absolving us of any responsibility for the non-provision or incomplete provision of such services.

It is the user’s responsibility to provide truthful data and keep them updated. Akka reserves the right to exclude from services and delete the account of any user who has provided false data, without prejudice to other actions provided by law.

1.2 Data We Collect Automatically Through Cookies

When you visit our website or use our services, no personal data that identifies you is automatically recorded. However, each time you visit our site, in accordance with applicable laws and with your consent when required, we may collect data about the devices you use to access our services and the networks from which you navigate. These data include:

      • Your IP address, connection information, browser versions and types, plugins used, operating systems, and data related to your navigation on our platform. This includes the path followed between different URLs, content viewed or consulted, any download issues, time spent on certain pages, interactions with these pages, and the phone number you might use to contact us.
      • We also collect information related to your interaction with our site, such as the number of visits to startup profiles, your online requests, the date and time of portal access, and the last time you logged in.
      • Security elements related to access control to restricted areas.

2. How Do We Use the Personal Data We Collect?

Any personal data you provide when visiting our website will be processed in accordance with data protection regulations and will be collected, processed, and used only for lawful, legitimate, and informed purposes. Below are all the purposes for which Akka uses personal data:

  • Execute the contracts entered into with you and provide you with the requested information and services;
  • Respond to questions or requests sent via contact forms and/or email;
  • Allow you to access the platform as a user and use our website;
  • Enable you to access Akka’s communication channels and community;
  • Keep you informed about membership periods for Akka’s investment club;
  • Send you information about our services (such as the presentation of new startups, news about fundraising, etc.) via email or other communication means;
  • Preselect startups that meet your investment criteria: sectors, maturity, management team, etc.;
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment on our site;
  • Inform you about changes in our services;
  • Allow you to customize your profile on our site;
  • Administer our site and conduct internal technical operations such as troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, and surveys;
  • Improve and optimize our site, particularly to ensure that content is displayed correctly on your devices.

The processing of personal data is based on the execution of pre-contractual measures requested by you and/or the consent provided.

3. Data Retention Period

3.1 Except for the categories of personal data mentioned in sections 3.2 and 3.3, your personal data are stored for the following periods:

  • 5 years after your last use of our site if you have not closed your account;
  • 1 year after closing your account, except in cases where (i) you have received a warning, in which case your personal data will be retained for 2 years after the last warning, or (ii) you have pending transactions with us, in which case your data will be retained until the conclusion of the transactions.

3.2 Financial data (e.g., payments, refunds, etc.) will be retained for the period required by applicable tax and accounting laws.

3.3 If your account has been suspended or blocked, we will retain your personal data for a period between 2 and 10 years from the suspension date to prevent you from circumventing current regulations on our site.

3.4 Personal data relating to a potential customer not yet a client may be retained for a period of 3 years from the date of collection or the last contact with the potential customer.
At the end of this 3-year period, we may contact you again to verify if you wish to continue receiving commercial offers.

4. Where Do We Store Your Personal Data?

Generally, we store personal data in our databases located in France (on OVHcloud). However, since some of our service providers (particularly Brevo for email campaigns or Stripe for online payments) are located in countries outside the European Union (“third countries”), we transfer some personal data to third countries.

This transfer is relevant especially for third countries for which the European Commission has not issued an “adequate protection” decision. In such cases, we ensure that the transfer is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and guarantees a sufficient level of protection for the privacy and fundamental rights of individuals (particularly through the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses).

5. What Are Your Rights and How Can You Exercise Them?

All users can exercise the rights granted by data protection regulations, in particular:

  • Right of Access: You can obtain information about the processing of your personal data and a copy of such data;
  • Right to Rectification: If you believe that your personal data are inaccurate or incomplete, you can request their correction;
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You can request the restriction of the processing of your personal data;
  • Right to Erasure: You can request the deletion of your personal data;
  • Right to Object: You can object to the processing of your personal data for reasons related to your particular situation. You have an absolute right to object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes, including profiling related to direct marketing;
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: If you have given your consent to the processing of your personal data, you have the right to withdraw it at any time;
  • Right to Data Portability: When applicable, you have the right to have the personal data you provided returned to you or, when technically possible, transferred to a third party.

In accordance with applicable regulations, you can exercise your rights by sending a written request, attaching a copy of your identity document, to the email address of our Data Protection Officer: contact-nordics@akka.app. If you deem it appropriate, you can file a complaint with the Swedish Data Protection Authority.

6. Security

Akka is committed to doing everything possible to ensure the security of your data.

We have implemented reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, or alteration, unauthorized disclosure of transmitted, stored, or processed personal data, and against unauthorized access to such data.

However, you should be aware that the Internet is an open system, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will not circumvent these measures or use your personal data for improper purposes.

Akka may contain links to third-party websites. Akka is not responsible for the content of such sites or the privacy practices adopted by these third parties. We recommend that you read and understand the privacy policies of third-party sites before accepting their cookies and visiting such sites to ensure that your personal data are adequately protected.

7. Data Transfer

Akka may transfer users’ personal information for internal administrative, operational, and direct marketing purposes, as well as in cases provided by law, to companies within the Group to which it belongs, in accordance with Article 42 of the French Commercial Code. In this regard, data may be transferred to the company:

  • Blast Angels, a french company with registered office at 3 rue des Renaudes, 75017, Paris, with NIF 951622083.

8. Do You Not Wish to Receive Information from Us or Want to Withdraw Your Consent?

Any user can object to the use of their data for advertising purposes, market research, or satisfaction surveys, as well as withdraw their consent at any time (without retroactive effect). To do so, send an email to contact-nordics@akka.app. When you receive advertising emails, you can also object by clicking the link within the email and following the instructions.

9. Changes to the Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy may be subject to changes due to legal modifications or to improve our services. We recommend that you periodically visit our Privacy Policy to stay informed about any changes. If such changes affect the consent provided by the user, we will send a separate notification to request your consent again.
