Answers to all your questions

The Club.

Our club is currently closed, but every month we open a few spots to welcome new members. Make sure to apply here to secure your membership.

The main goal of my Club is to offer access to world-class startup investment opportunities and give you the chance to invest with me (Jon Olsson) on the same preferential terms. But that's not all! I will also share private content with you about entrepreneurship and investments, so you can grow as an investor and entrepreneur and continue learning about business-related topics.

Finally, joining my Club means becoming part of a community of like-minded people with whom you can meet and share experiences. It's a great opportunity to expand your network and, who knows, make future friends or business partners. For more information on all the benefits of the Club, click here.

Yes! By joining my Club, you will have numerous opportunities to meet me.

  • For every investment opportunity, I will organize a live presentation with the startup's founders.
  • I will organize events to allow all Club members to meet me, share our experiences, and learn together.
  • I will be active on Discord to chat with you and share updates.

The Akka movement aims to break down barriers to first-class investments worldwide, so they are not reserved only for the wealthiest or best-connected individuals. Anyone can make their capital work through promising startup investments, contributing to the launch of new enterprises and the economy of their country.

To achieve this mission, the best business leaders from each country have come together to offer access to opportunities that were previously inaccessible. I fully support this mission, and that's why I'm launching my Club today.

Membership.

The club is currently full, but I will soon reopen spots as I am receiving many requests. If you wish to secure a membership, apply here. Our Selection Committee will evaluate each new application individually.

As a club member, you’ll gain access to a wide range of exclusive services, tailored to your membership level:

  • Crowdfunding Opportunities: Through our crowdfunding license, you can access around 15 carefully selected investment opportunities annually, with investments starting at €1,000.

Great question! To comply with current regulations, the Club can only accept residents in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and those located in jurisdictions where it is legally permissible to receive financial promotions. If you're unsure about your eligibility to invest through us in your country, we recommend seeking legal advice before joining the Club.

Please note that, of course, individuals from countries currently under international sanctions are not eligible to participate.

The Club is open to anyone, regardless of profession, experience, age, or income. However, to comply with current regulations, the Club can only accept residents in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and those located in jurisdictions where it is legally permissible to receive financial promotions.

Absolutely not, quite the opposite! Once you've joined my Club, you'll learn a lot about investments and have everything you need to become a successful investor. I will also share my analysis of each investment opportunity with you to help you make your decision.

Yes, you can invest through a company. Be sure to check the tax situation in your country of residence before making a decision. Read our article on taxation here.

The most important thing to consider is how much you want to invest during the year.

All membership levels have established maximum limits that you can invest both annually and for each opportunity. Additionally, each level offers different benefits (events, priority coupons, etc.) that you can consider before making your decision. Learn more about membership levels here.

No, absolutely not! You can transfer money whenever you want to participate in an investment opportunity. For added convenience, you can top up your wallet in advance to be ready to invest in your first deals without wasting time with multiple transfers.

My Club is the most effective way to invest in startups and has significant differences compared to a traditional fund.

  • You can invest with as little as €1,000
  • You have access to the most exclusive startups
  • You can decide which deals to invest in
  • You can join as either a beginner or an expert investor
  • You can join even if you don't have an excellent network in the ecosystem
  • You can easily resell your shares

Memberships are valid for one year. All unused investment credits and priority coupons can be transferred to the following year if you decide to renew your membership. If you don't renew, of course, you will retain your existing shares but will no longer be able to invest in new startups.

Your shares are safe! Even if you're no longer a member, you will retain your holdings in the various startups you've invested in. You will also continue to receive updates on each startup. However, you will no longer have access to exclusive content or be able to invest in new opportunities.

Memberships are strictly personal, valid for 1 year, and non-transferable.

No. The membership fees you've paid have allowed you to join my club, learn with me, access exclusive deals, and invest up to a certain amount per year.

You will receive a confirmation indicating that you are officially a member of the club. And then... you can start your adventure!

Explore investment opportunities every month and begin your journey to becoming a successful investor.

Investments.

Great question!

Every month, I receive about 500 startup pitches seeking funding. The team selects the 2 most promising opportunities based on 5 key criteria: the team, the project, the market, key figures, and funding conditions. While I won't limit myself to specific sectors, it's very likely that I will share opportunities in the tech area, as it's the one I like the most.

Only club members will be informed of new opportunities. You will receive a notification via email and can find all the information you need on our investment platform.

Absolutely not! This is one of the advantages of the Club! For each deal, you decide whether or not you want to invest and with what amount. You are free to make your own decisions.

You will have access to everything you need to help you decide on each opportunity:

  • The startup's initial presentation and its key figures
  • My analysis of the startup and the underlying market
  • A live presentation with the startup's founders, organized by me, where we can all ask questions and get answers.

Yes! For each deal, I will organize a live presentation with the startup's founders, so they can share more information about their project and fundraising. All Club members can ask questions and get answers. Participate in each live presentation or watch the recording later.

A fundraising round is considered valid if 75% or more of the required amount is raised. If the 75% threshold is not reached, the investment is canceled, and funds are returned to investors.

In that case, the fundraising is considered oversubscribed, and we will need to run our algorithm to select the investors who can participate and their allocations. The algorithm is designed to be as fair as possible and treat everyone equally (unless a priority coupon is used).

A priority coupon guarantees your spot in a fundraising round, even if it is oversubscribed. You will be able to invest no matter what!

While I would love to give you a precise answer, I'm afraid I can't :). Predicting future returns is beyond my abilities, and although my past investment track record has been promising, it does not guarantee future returns.

The only thing I can say is that, although every investment carries some risk, returns from venture capital investments outperform any other market, such as stocks or real estate... (source: McKinsey's Private Markets Annual Review).

Yes, you can. Although holding shares in unlisted companies is known to be highly illiquid, we have done everything possible to facilitate the sale of your shares at any time. You can sell your shares in the following scenarios:

  • If the startup is acquired
  • If the startup raises funds again and new investors buy from existing shareholders

I have many! I will share these tips with you so you can learn the basics and grow as an investor.

For now, here's one: diversify your investments. Spread your money across different types of investments with varying risks, in different underlying markets, to reduce overall risk. It's better to invest in 10 different startups rather than putting all your money into a single project.

  1. Structuring fees vary from 3% to 5% of the invested amount based on your membership, payable once for each investment.
  2. Management fees are charged to the SPV dedicated to a specific investment. 1% is charged annually, with a limit of 5 years.
  3. Performance fees, payable once in case of capital gain upon resale. We take a 20% share of the added value. We earn only if you earn.

Investing in startups carries risks that should be considered before joining. Invest only money you are willing to lose and diversify your portfolio so you don't rely on just 1 or 2 projects. Consider the following:

  • Startups can fail, while others may thrive
  • It may be difficult to sell your shares. You may have to wait for a liquidity event, such as the startup being acquired or new investors buying your shares during a new funding round.
  • Startups rarely pay dividends to their investors. This means it's unlikely to see a return on your investment until you can sell your shares.

Taxes and legal aspects.

Investing through a legal entity might be advantageous from a tax perspective, but it involves an additional level of complexity and extra costs, as you will need to establish and manage it. Investors who use legal entities often do so when investing tens of thousands of euros per year.

SPV stands for Special Purpose Vehicle. In our case, it's a company whose sole purpose is to co-invest funds in a specific objective. We create an SPV for each deal to bring investors together and take stakes.

Investing in a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) offers several advantages: access to opportunities even with smaller investment amounts, possibility of greater liquidity within the SPV, simplified management of the capitalization table, and greater negotiating power with investment funds during subsequent financing rounds.

As a co-investor, you will have the right to access information shared by the target startup with the SPV regarding the shareholders' agreement. This confidential information is subject to confidentiality clauses provided in the Terms and Conditions.

To comply with various European and international regulations on preventing money laundering and terrorist financing, we must identify the beneficial owners of investments through Know Your Customer (KYC) or Know Your Business (KYB) measures.
